I've seen two 17" screens both for 100£, but i don't know which one to get
i've just seen this, there's a 19" widescreen for just 10 pounds more, i'll probably get that one.
By the way, i found these monitors at novatech if anyone is interested.

US $26.00

if you can afford both, and the widescreen as as good as the non-wide screen, then definitely go for widescreen!
However if these are LCDs, then pay close attention to the contrast ratio. It should be at least 800:1 for 100 pounds.
I agree… I’ve been using a 22″ widescreen over my old 19″ LCD and I can’t go back to 4:3 ratio. You get so much more screen “real estate” with a widescreen I’m sure you’ll feel the same way too.
(I know its US currency but I got my 22″ WS from Dell and that was like $300~… about 150 pounds… and its definitely worth it.)
Well maybe a little more to European customers (as you can see by the link below) but a 17 inch widescreen is more like a regular 15″ monitor stretched out.
A normal 17″ monitor ahs a much faster refresh rate.
