Rally-x to Mame conversion (Part 1): Evaluating the cab
ok. re-doing a old project i had started a wile back. a couple years ago i bought a rally-x cab that was in need of some TLC. unfortunately all i has on the mind at the time was "CHEAP MAME MACHINE!" so i did very little restoration work and was focused on getting it to just work as a mame emulator. just converted to a mame machine. wired the old rusty controls right to a old keyboard... and i mean OLD... lol. worked fine however. and just got myself a 17 inch monitor to put in place of the non working arcade CRT. and put a computer in it and just loaded up windows and a truck load of emulators.. this lasted a good amount of time untill i moved and didn't have room for it . its been sitting in storage for over 2 years and i just got sick of watching the poor thing rot. so decided to restore it and force room for it by doing some spring cleaning! and this is an overview on the cabinet pre-restoration. the only work i did first time around was remove the vinyl stickers that was on the side that was chipping and peeling and sprayed it black, scrape off old paint that was 50% chipped or flaky from the front screen peace. please note that ALOT of the old hardware was already taken out of the machine prior to this series so it may seem i jump right into it. please note that taking the old hardware out is required. a simple process. just unscrewing all the screws you can find and TAKE EXTREAM CAUTION WITH THE CRT and POWER SUPPLY!. there are parts that hold a charge even when ...
