Product Description
Galileo thermometers offer a unique decorative alternative to the traditional thermometer instrument. Galileo thermometers are filled with a clear liquid that suspends multiple colored weights. As the liquid within the weights changes temperature their density changes allowing the weights to rise or fall. The lowest weight at the very top of the Galileo reflects the temperature.

I’ve wanted one of these for many years, and saw Amazon had them for sale at reasonable prices. I will admit I was worried about them shipping a glass/liquid container across the country and getting it in one piece. Turns out the nerves were unfounded as it is a pretty sturdy piece of glass, and doesn’t feel thin or cheap. Nice looking thermometer, and for a respectable price. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
This item is completely inaccurate it does not work at all. It is ALWAYS at 72 degrees no matter what temperature I place it in. It has been freezing and the thermostat clearly says a far lower number but the thermometer always stays at 72 degrees no matter what I do. This one is nothing like the old galileo thermometer I used to own before it broke. I am very unhappy.
It is an excellent product. Great craftsmanship. Excellent conversation piece item. Lovely to look at. Pretty accurate with regard to temperature reading.Chaney Instrument 17-Inches Galileo Thermometer

Galileo, of course, was one of the early proponents of heliocentrism – the idea that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of our system.
As such, I think he would have been particularly intrerested in Gilbert's experiment with perfectly spherical magnets. Gilbert found that such magnets in the presence of Earth's magnetic field began to spin at a rate of once per 24 hours. This led Gilbert to suggest that the Earth itself is probably doing the same and causing the motion in the small magnets.
Which is a good first step for heliocentrism. If know the Earth is rotating and not still as it might seem, it is not too far a step to then suggest that the apparent motion of the sun is not as it seems either. Galileo tried to prove some of this same stuff with tides, without terrific result (and we know his tidal theories were completely wrong today).
There is reason to believe that Galileo was already familiar with Gilbert's work, so there probably wouldn't really be much need for ME to point out anything about it to him. Hope that helps!
Kenton, there have been skeptic/denier articles appearing in newspapers (especially the right-leaning) since forever. The rate with these articles are being published is probably going up in lock-step with increased attention to climate change. Also, do you really think it’s plausible that the majority of scientists involved with measurement have not thought of (and subsequently compensated for) this problem themselves? That’s exactly what’s said at the end of the article. “[Trenberth said] he accepted there were problems with the global thermometer record but these had been accounted for in the final report.”
Woke up at 1am and the thermometer read 32 degrees outside. Just a little nippy for all us Florida weenies. *grin*
a flute or clarinet will be your best bet. You can probably find a pretty cheap used one on ebay.
I spent 1600€ for nothing..just to get 5 vertical lines on my screen. This is not acceptable. How can apple sell such a crappy product. After the warranty year expired 5 lines appeared!! And there’s nothing i can do

Republicans do not own companies, for your information.
These factorys that decided to out-source have nothing
to do with Bush or any other politician. They are just greedy
and are willing to sell America down the river so they can
make a bigger profit by letting the poor in Mexico do the
same jobs and pay them little or nothing, so they can line
their pockets. They have no care for the American worker.
Put the blame on your Unions who apparently have no
influence (despite getting the workers dues for many years)
on where the jobs are outsourced to. Presidents and their
big fancy Board of Directors of these big businesses are the ones who make these decisions, so put the blame where it belongs…………….and that's not Bush, Chaney, Obama, McCain, or Romney.
StumbleUpon, you are slowly killing my degree
I spent about $30 on a new one and installed it myself. I even got one I can program. Just pop the cover off the front. remove a couple of screws and detach the wires, usually with a screw driver. The wires are color coded & instructions are included.
If the old cover is stuck to the wall because of paint, just run a razor blade or knife carefully around the edges.
Gotta do something. The either freeze or bake method of heating is for the birds.
Wow! This is just awesome! Nice job!
dude on the left is in another video. dont know what the things called though
MidiAnglo – Wireless WiFi Anglo Concertina MIDI Controller 1.0 Category: Music Price: $9.99, Version: 1.0 (iTunes) Description: MidiAnglo is a WiFi-based wireless Anglo Concertina-style MIDI Controller for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The app doesn’t make any sound itself, it is designed for controlling hardware or software MIDI synthesizers via a WiFi connection to a Windows or Mac OS X based computer. Multiple iPhone or iPod Touch devices (up to 16) can run the app simultaneously, each sending messages on its own MIDI channel to the hardware or software synthesizer. Anglo-style concertinas are commonly used for playing traditional Irish dance tunes, and is a much-favored instrument in County Clare, Ireland. The Anglo concertina is diatonic, meaning the instrument plays a different note for each button depending on whether you are pushing or pulling on the bellows. In the app, to play, simply tip the iPhone/iPod Touch to the left for a bellows push note, or to the right for a bellows…
